Gymnasium and high school for girls
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for girls was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
I searched the database under the exact setting for the first initial "R" and the last name Flumbaum. It returned one match (Rachela Flumbaum). She was born on May 21, 1925 (this falls into the age range for attending Gymnasium), and her occupation (according to the spreadsheet style Lodz Ghetto list) is that of Schuelerin. Her notes indicate a deportation date of April 1, 1942 as well as a transport number of 25/2.

User Comment:
By searching the database under the exact setting for the last name of Flumbaum, I was able to find three other individuals that resided with Rachela. Mendel (born October 3, 1904) was the oldest male residing at the residence, and I believe that he was Rachela's father. Laja (born May 22, 1899) was the oldest female residing at the residence, and I believe that she was Rachela's mother. Bajrech (born July 30, 1932) was the only other child listed at the residence, and I believe that he was Rachela's younger brother. The entire family shares an April 1, 1942 deportation date (as well as transport number 25/2). According to secondary sources, the transports that left from the Lodz Ghetto that day were sent to Chelmno. I believe that the entire Flumbaum family likely perished in the gas vans at Chelmno.

Thank you for adding the Flumbaum family to the record. I agree that they most likely all perished in Chelmno. Thanks for your research!
