User Comment:

We began today looking at last names that start with J and decided on one "P. Jachimowicz".  Seeing that there were two individuals listed under that name, one enrolled in School #17A and the other in School #23, we decided to do a name search to narrow our options.  On the USHMM Name Search Database we found a "Perel Jachimowicz" and a "Pesa Brajna Jachimowicz."  We chose the former due to the fact that "Perel Jachimowicz" did not fit into the age group listed for School #17A, while "Pesa Brajna Jachimowicz" fit comfortably. This research gives us a higher probability of placing "Perel Jachimowicz" in School #23, giving that "her" birthday fits into the age groups listed for said School #23.

The street name Altermieter was also listed for Perel, but left out of the address.

Having seen the research on P. Jachimowicz in school #17a, I'm inclined to agree that Perel is the girl who signed the album for school #23, and Pesa is the girl whose name appears in school #17a's section. Thank you for noting Altermieter vs. Pfeffergasse--I'm pretty sure this means that Pfeffergasse is where Perel's family lived prior to the establishment of the ghetto as well as once the ghetto was established. Looking forward to seeing what else you uncover about her.

We began searching for Perel's family.  On the USHMM database, we found another name listed under Perel's address.  We believe the woman, Chana Jachimowicz, to be Perel's mother, due to the fact that she is 26 years old and living in the same houshold.  We also found Mania Jachimowicz, who we believe to be Perel's older sister, being born 9 months before Perel.  She lives at the same address, yet oddly enough is not noted to be deported to Chelmno with the rest of the family.

Expert Reviewer Comment:
Please also include that she was deported to Chelmno on 15/3/1942. Great job researching! Have you found any information about the family? If so, please include that information under "researched names!" Thank you so much for your help!

I agree you have found her family.

If you can determine from the secondary sources the destination of her deportation, you can include that location as well. Thank you for helping to complete Perel's record.

To find where Pesa was deported to, I looked at Secondary Sources to find that in March, when Pesa was noted to be deported, that deportations occured daily.  This gives a high probability that Pesa was included in this group of deportees.
