Gymnasium and high school for girls
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for girls was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
The database returned no matches for the exact first initial "N" and the exact last name Smietana paired. There were two other girls that I found with similar last names that were born within the age range for Gymnasium, but neither of them had the same initials as the girl I was looking for. I then checked under the fuzzy setting in the database, and I found a match for a girl that was within the age range for Gymnasium that had a last name that was extremely close to Smietana. Nacha Smiptana was born in 1926. SHe was known to have resided at Muhl 21 22, and there was no occupation listed in her profile. There was a deportation date of 18.04.42 listed in her notes along with the transport number of 12.

I agree this is the person who most likely signed this name in the album. In 1941 she would have been 15 years old, the right age to attend Gymnasium. Please enter the information about her deportation into the appropriate fields on the next stage.
