Gymnasium and high school for boys
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for boys was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
Although I could not find any matches for Russek Maniek and all of the results for last name 'Maniek' matched gender or age, Russek Mendel seems to fit the gender, age, and occupation criterea. I'm not sure if it is a match or if Mendel is a sufficient alternate for Maniek.
*I had originally searched with Russek as the last name but wrote it in wrong! Do you think Mendel Russek is right?
I searched all of the stages with each name and did not find any matches until the surviving brother as I had already mentioned.

My thoughts:
In the database we have two possible candidates for an "M. Russek": Mendel, who you found, born in 1923, and Michal, born in 1926 and living at the same address as Mendel (the surviving brother you mentioned before). My source tells me that Maniek can be used as a Polish pet name, so the corresponding name in the database might likely be of Hebrew or Yiddish origin. I'm not sure which is more likely to be him, Mendel or Michal. Go ahead and add both names and birthdates, along with their addresses, and we'll follow both out from here.
