Gender: boy
School:
Gymnasium and high school for boys
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for boys was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
I ran a search for Scharf, K* and was able to find a boy named Karl Scharf. Isearched his age (15 yrs old) which matches with the age range in his school, the Gymnasium and high school for boys. Under the notes it says he was transported to Chelmo on May 15, 1942 which was last day people were deported from Lodz to Chelmo according to the transport timeline, therefore he may have been on those transports.
Karl's occupation was listed as Haushalt. After a preliminary search, I found that Haushalt means houshold in German. This leads me to believe he may have worked as a "help" of sorts.

Good job! I agree you've found the student who most likely signed this name in the album, and agree with your reasoning. Your research notes will help your fellow researchers understand how you determined this was the right person. Thank you for adding the addresses.
Please enter the date from the notes field into the appropriate field on the next stage. Thanks and good luck in the following stages!!
