User Comment:

Irena was relocated in Lodz from Frohe Gasse to Runde Gasse on October 1, 1942. She was then moved to Siegfriedstrasse in Lodz and was eventually moved again or possibly deported on July 6, 1944. According to the Lodz Ghetto Labor Card records, Irena was employed as a woman carpet worker in Teppicherzeugnisse while living in Runde Gasse. Her labor card states that her number was 25983, and she was authorized to work in section 33 since July 16, 1942. As of January 1, 1943 she was 19 years old. The card also has a small black and white photograph of her on the front right side.

Really excellent, thorough work here. I agree that you have found the student who most likely signed this name in the album. In 1941 she would have been 17 years old, the right age to attend Gymnasium.

Thank you for your thorough note as well. Now that your information has been confirmed for this stage, you can add the information from the labor card, the date of her move to Runde Gasse, and the date of her presumed deportation to the appropriate fields on the next stage. Thank you!

According to the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants Records Volume Five, Irena was relocated in Lodz from Frohe Gasse Street 16 Apartment 2 to Runde Gasse Street 15 on October 1, 1942. Her other record within the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants states that she was then moved to Siegfriedstrasse Street 47 Apartment 5 in Lodz on July 6, 1944.

I believe Helena Neumark, from Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants Record Volume 5, was possibly Irena’s mother. Helena was born on February 6, 1882.  Like Irena, Helena lived within the same address in Frohe Gasse Street 16 Apartment 2 and was also moved to Runde Gasse Street 15 in September of 1942. Helena did have a job as an employee, but her record does not detail where.

Excellent work with Irena's labor card. Thank you for adding all of this information. I hope you are able to learn more about her and what happened after June 30, 1944, in the next stages.
