User Comments:
I was able to find Lea Herszenkraft on the database by searching for her exact name. I was unable to find her birth date, only her birth year.

I agree you've found the person who signed this name in the album. In addition to the exact name match, she would have been 10 years old in 1941, the right age to attend school #9a.

Zgierska was the Polish name for the street the Germans named Hohensteinstrasse--this means she was probably living on the same street, if not in the same apartment, before the ghetto was created. I'm excited to see what you find in the next stages.

User Comments:
After finding the date Lea was deported, March 5, 1942, I searched the Secondary Sources to learn more about where exactly she was deported. There were daily deportations in March, 1942 to Chelmno, and all deportees were killed in the gas vans, Lea and her family among the victims.

How were you able to determine that Estera and Ita were Lea's family members?

I agree that Lea would have been deported to Chelmno if she was deported in March 1942. Thank you for helping to complete her record. If you like, you may now fill out a biography for Lea.
