Student Profile: S. Alter

I agree with my fellow researcher and agree Szmul Dawid Halter is the best match. However, I found him also listed as Szmul Dawia Halter born 5 Aug 1895. He lives as Sattlergasse 19 flat 1A and Kranichweg 13. He also changed addresses or perhaps was deported on 23 June 1944. Given the similarites in both names I think we can assume they are the same person. We just need to figure out which birthdate is correct so we narrow it down to whether or not Szmul Halter signed his name, "S. Alter" at the School. I looked through the second stage and I actually found Szmul in the Lodz Ghetto Work cards with the 1895 birthdate and it says he was deported on 23 June 1944 and then he appears in the Lodz Transports to Chelmno database having as Szmul Dawid Halter born 1895 and having been transported on 14 Jul 1944. Given the fact that there's a number of sources listing him as born 1895 I really don't feel we can confidently say this was the person who attended the Gymnasium.

Very interesting. I'm going to leave this marked possible until we know more about the discrepancy in the dates of birth.
