In August of 1944 Chaim tried to avoid deportation but was taken to the hospital due to becoming sick. His mother would come and visit him every day after work then one day she didn't show. That was the day she and Chaim's father were taken to Auschwitz and murdered.

On September 1, 1944 Chaim arrived in Auschwitz-Birkenau and was transferred to the Stutthof concentration camp then to Stolp and back to Stutthof. Chaim was one of the few who survived when Germans forced the prisoners on boats and sailed them across the Baltic Sea.

There's a lot of great information in the .pdf that tells Chaim's story--his parents' names, his brother's name, their addresses, Chaim's workshop, etc. You can enter this information (cited, of course!) into the appropriate fields in stage 2!
