In the Student List the name was listed as Halina Wagowska and we could not find any records of Halina Wagowska, However there were records of a Helena Wagoski who had the same birthday. We made the same assumption as those who did the research before us did and inferred that this was the same person. We continued our research searching for every variation of the names Helena Wagoski and Halina Wagowska.

There is a Halina Wagowska in Australia who was born in 1930 and spent time in Lodz ghetto. She survived and went on to a great life in Australia and to write a book about her experiences. See http://www.theage.com.au/national/education/learning-lights-the-path-out-of-darkness-20110610-1fwpw.html#comments

I have searched many of the sites with info about Halina and her book, but I cannot find any biographical details that would ascertain whether she is the same Halina. I have contacted one of the Australian journalists who covered her story to see if there is more information or if Halina herself could be contacted.

I hope they are one and the same.

Halina Wagowska survived the war and her testimony can be viewed online at the USC Shoah Foundation under her married name Halina STRNAD. In her testimony she confirms her family details and that she is the child who signed the album in the ghetto.
