User Comments:

When I first searched for Mosze on the Lodz Inhabitants Database, I found 8 possible matches, I was able to narrow it down to one. He was born in 1931, which makes him eligible to be in this school. From the Lodz Ghetto List, I was able to find his ghetto address and what was probably his address before being sent to the ghetto. I was then able to see his transfer date to Chelmno.

I agree this is the most likely candidate to have signed this name in the album. In 1941, he would have been 10 years old, an appropriate age for school #1. Nice work! Thank you for adding the comment on your process as well.

I look forward to seeing what you find in the next stages!

User Comments:

I was able to take the transport number on the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants list and then use the Secondary Sources to find that Mosze was transported to Chelmno and killed in a van. I do not know if they arrived the same day they were transported or killed the same day they arrived, so I didn't put an exact date of death, just the year.

I also was not able to find his labor card, so I'm assuming he did not work while he was at Lodz.

I was not able to find information about his parents. There was a married couple listed on the Jewish Records Indexing site, but they were married in 1840, and I don't think they would have a child almost 100 years later.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I'm a little confused and I am not too sure what search engine to use to see if anyone lived at the address here. Sorry! It's taking me some time to learn the ins and out of the site!!

Thanks!

I suggest you follow the suggestions given by the expert reviewer--these all look like potential family members, given a similarity of addresses and deportation dates. You will find all of these names in the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants Database, which you can access through the database list on stages 1 and 2.

I agree that if he was deported in March of 1942, his likely destination was Chelmno. Thank you for helping to complete Mosze's record--if you like, please use the "biography" box at the top of any stage to write what you've discovered about Mosze in a narrative form.

Were you able to find any information about possible family members?

I agree based on the date of deportation listed in his record. Since you have entered the information about his deportation and death across three stages, please use a comments field or the biography button to tie together your research for future researchers. Thanks!
