Dawid Sierakowiak resided in Lodz, Poland. His first address in the ghetto was Reiger Gasse 5/7 Flat 11. He later moved to Sattler Gasse 20 on July 14, 1943.

He was a student with a scholarship at the private Gymnasium school in Lodz. Throughout the war, he kept a diary, describing his feelings and the events that occured. The last entry of his diary contained his hopes on getting a job at the ghetto bakery, so that he no longer had to starve.

Alyson,

Excellent. Is there a reason you chose to go with the birthdate of July 25, 1924 rather than July 25, 1927 since there are two entries for Dawid with different birth years in the Lodz Ghetto Database? Also, where did you find the content about his scholarship, diary, etc.? Always reveal your sources. FYI -- This last bit of information is more appropriate to Stage 2 (Life in the Ghetto). However, for Stage 1, were you able to uncover where he was born, too?

Alyson,

I apologize... I think I might have just sent you a message that I intended to send to Gerson. Here is what I meant to send you --- First of all, is there a reason you have chosen to only enter the death date used in the Lodz Ghetto Hospital Deaths database? The Lodz Ghetto Database lists Dawid's date of death as 09-08-1943 (ie, one day later). You should really submit both. Also, Dawid's last name is spelled differently in the Lodz Ghetto Hospital database -- "Szerakowiak" -- and his birth place is listed as "Lodsch." Please submit those pieces of information. Also, in the comments field, you should explain why you think this is the same person you identified in the first stage; after all, his last name is spelled differently!

Dawid had a younger sister named Nadia Sierakowiak. She was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where she was murdered. The date of her deportation is unknown.

Excellent additions. You should also enter your source for information that you entered in the Comments field. In this case, I know that you got it from the USHMM Holocaust Encyclopedia. But remember that for the future.
