To find the student's address, name, and year of birth I searched Nechama's full name in the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants List. I found two possible Nechama's but only one who's data of birth was in between the dates of birth for students who attended School #8A, 1928-1934. This girl was born in 1932, and I was able to find that she lived at BLEICHER 20 4. In the notes for this student it was said that she was moved on the 15th of March 1942, when I cross checked this date in "Secondary Sources" I was able to see that trains left Lodz daily for Chelmo during March and thus Nechama must have ended there. Next to the deportation date is TR 25/II which I assume is the train number for the deportation Nechama left on.

I agree with your process! It does look like you've found the person who signed this name in the album. Thank you for being so thorough in writing out your notes.

I agree as well with your reading of the date in the notes field--A.G., as you note, can either mean a move within the ghetto or a deportation, and in this case, with a transport number next to it, we can be reasonably certain this date refers to the day on which she was deported from the ghetto. I look forward to seeing what you've found in the next stages.

To find relatives of Nechama I types in the last name Najman to the Inhabitants of Lodz Ghetto list and went through all 788 names to find that only Sura Perla Najman, a female born in 1891, lived in the same location as Nechama, BLEICHER 20 4. Sura was born during dates that would place her in the correct time period to be the mother of Nechama. Sura left Lodz on 5.3.42., a different date than Nechama but in the same month. In March there were daily trains to Chelmno from the Lodz ghetto where those deported were gassed, like Nechama, Sura likely persished.

I agree with your conclusions here. Please enter the date of deportation and the transport number into the appropriate fields on this stage, citing the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants database, so we can know where you found that she was deported to Chelmno. (As soon as you do, I can change the status of this research from possible to confirmed.)

Thank you for your thorough search for her family members. I'm glad you were able to find her mother. Thank you for helping to complete Nechama's record.
