I agree that Rachel Lea is the only likely candidate to have signed the album as L. Reder. In the future, especially in cases like this where it's not immediately clear how you arrived at this conclusion, please leave a comment explaining your process and why you think this student signed the album.

Otherwise, great sleuthing. I look forward to seeing what else you find!

User Comments:

The  family is all based on the address and piecing together the dates.  There  is also another man who was living with them in the ghetto, a Pinchas or Pinkas Reder, who was born May 14, 1909.

Am not sure how best to proceed from here.   Would love to find out if this girl, and/or others of her family, survived the war, and am hitting a wall, as there seems to be no further information.  Would love any suggestions!

I agree that you have most likely found Rachel Lea's family--how did you decide on the relationships?

Check through all the sources on the other stages of this site, use google, look through other reputable source on the Lodz ghetto--and perhaps, unfortunately, the trail ends here. Sometimes we just don't have records, or they have not been found yet, and the stories of these students remain unknown. But simply putting a name and a birthdate to a signature is still more than we knew before!
