I found a male student who might have signed the book given to the chancellor. He was a student, and his name is Salomon Nusbaum born November 2, 1931. He Was deported to chelmno with a transport number on April 24, 1942. Hope this name might be it. please email me ASAP. thank you.

I chose Salomon Nusbaum born in November 02, 1931 because his file listed him as a student, and there happened to be more information, such as, occupation and transfer date.

Well, I thought about researching both names but not until after I had submitted the first one, since they both went to the school # 2, and were both born in the same year. I am starting a new search for the second Salmon Nusbaum born on the 3rd of October. Maybe I can be lucky to find what happened to both :)

I just entered the second possible birth date.

Do you think they're different people, if they have the same birth year, birthdates within a month of each other, and the same address?

In the future, when you have two possibilities, please research them both--we'd hate to see someone's story fall through the cracks just because another candidate had more information on his or her record.

I agree that out of all the people with the last name "Nusbaum" in the database, Salomon is the most likely signer of the album for Chaim Rumkowski, since he would have been almost 10 years old in 1941, an appropriate age to be attending school #2. I am curious, though, why you went with the record listing his DOB as November 2, rather than the other Salomon Nusbaum record that lists the DOB as October 3 (interestingly, both have one of the same addresses . . . ). What do you make of that?

I listed the date of deportation. I am not really sure where to go from here? I am not sure where he could have been deported to. Could be chelmno because he was about 10 or 11 and according to secondary sources; children under 11 years old were sent to Chelmno killing camp within January-April of 1942. The other possible places could be The Forced Labor camps near Auschwitz, maybe Częstochowa camp. Not to sure this is all I have so far.

The date of deportation should tell you (through the secondary sources) the most likely terminus of the transport.
