A good guess! Kinderheim means "youth home" in German, so I suspect that was the date the student moved into an orphanage/youth house. Since the date is February 1942, if Alter wasn't already in the ghetto by 1941, how would he have signed the album in September 1941?
I do agree that Alter is the most likely candidate to have signed the album as A. Lin, since in 1941 he would have been 15 years old, the right age to be in school #2. Please note his pre-youth-home addresses: Holzstrasse 13 and Konradstrasse 2 #1.
I haven't seen many records at all of students going to the Kinderheim, so I'm really excited to see what you find in stage 2!
