User Comments:
Although Bruria and Bajla may seem like dissimilar names, I do believe that it is possible that they are the same person. They are the only Holcman's in the record that share the same first initial and that could have possibly attended School #8.

I agree there is a pretty good chance that this is the person who signed the album as Bruria Holcman. Please note that she is listed as coming from Ozorkow, a town near Lodz from which people were deported to the ghetto.

I do think that Bajla could have been deported to Chelmno on September 10, 1942. According to her record from the Holocaust Survivors and Victims Database, it is quite possible that this is the place she went. According to the secondary source that lists the deportation and arrival dates to/from Lodz, there were deportations occurring at that time. If this is Bajla, then we can, unfortunately, assume that it is possible that she did not survive.

I would like to add that I believe it is very possible that Fajga, Josef, and Ruchla Holcman were Bruria's siblings and that Rywka Holcman was most likely their mother. They all shared a residence within the ghetto and were deported on the same day, with the exception of Ruchla. Ruchla's record indicates that she was moved to another location on June 3, 1942 and according to the secondary sources, there are no deportations on this date.

I agree that this date represents a deportation to Chelmno. She would have been deported during the Gehsperre Aktion, which targeted the oldest and youngest people in the ghetto. Thank you for helping to complete Bajla's record.

I agree that you have found her family members, given that they share a last name and live at the same address. I wonder what happened to Ruchla--can you find anything about her in the resources on the next stages?
