Again, very good research. You are correct that there were no major transports from Lodz to Chelmno during this period; however, there were some transports from the ghetto to other camps. In fact, according to the secondary sources, there was a transport from Lodz to Auschwitz on October 14, 1942. Perhaps such a transport left on October 7th, too?!? Someone should continue the research through stages 3-5 on Szmul's name to see if he wound up in Auschwitz or elsewhere.
