If hospital records indicate that she did not die, and there are no labor cards with her name on it, then does that mean she was in-hiding?

All it means is that we just don't know yet. We hope to have more records available soon--until then, you might have gone as far as you can go with this student. We don't know what happened to her, and we can't draw conclusions without data.
