Notes:
Alphabetical listing of Gross-Rosen prisoners evidently compiled after war by former Gross Rosen prisoner, date compiled not clear. Includes running list number, prisoner number if available, nationality, name, date of birth, and - in most cases - an additional date (perhaps of arrest or transfer) or what looks like a previous prisoner number, usually prefaced with a notation such as Bu, Da, Fl, Ma, Mi, Sa. (Continues from latter part of reel 519, which is illegible.) This reel runs between pp. 252-700 (beginning surnames Dro- and running to surname Kosak) and is also nearly completely illegible until ca. p. 390, when quality improves.
General description of file 31615 in the CEGES/SOMA collection English-language inventory indicates that the file covers Gross-Rosen prisoner names A-Kos. The list continues in file 31616 (on reels 520 and 521). File 31616 on reel 520 runs from pp. 701-1019; surnames Kos- through Neumann, but quality at first markedly worse than latter portion of file 31615.
The entire list spreads across reels 519-521 (files 31615 and 31616), but last section beginning with surnames Stas- may be missing. Quality fluctuates throughout and reel 519 wholly illegible.
Note on nationality: scribe may have been Polish, in which case nationality designations Wl [Polish l] would be Italy; WZ [Polish Z] would be Hungarian Jew; and PZ [Polish Z] would be Polish Jew. N may be Norwegian, but not clear; probably not Dutch (Niederland), which appears as "Holl."
