I initially tried to pull up the name Jochewed Ostrowicka under the exact setting of the database, but returned no results. The fuzzy setting (both first and last) returned a long list of names. Jochweta Ostrowiecki is the closest name that I could find to what we were looking for. Her d.o.b. (January 1927) also fits the age range for having attended School #7B, and her occupation is listed as Schueler. Also, Jochweta seems a bit more like the feminine version of the name Jochewed to me, and we were looking specifically for a young girl.

I agree this is one possible candidate to have signed this name in the album. Good work! What do you think about JOCHWETA OSTROWECKI? She lived at the same ghetto street address and according to the database was born in February of the same year. Might those records represent the same person?

User Comments:
To find Jochweta's family, I searched through the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants database on jewishgen.org, matched addresses, and assumed roles in the familial setting based on dates of birth. I then backed this information up by double-checking the USHHM database and confirming proper spelling, dob for each individual, and addresses. I believe Icek Jankiel to be the father of the Ostrowiecki children based on the fact that he is the oldest male in the household with a dob of 08-07-1891. Pinkus (dob 02-03-1924), Alter (26-09-1925), and Hersz (1922) are whom I believe to be her brothers. I could not find anyone whom would have been a suitable candidate for being her mother. I also was unable to locate any worker identification or information, and was unable to find any further information about possible deportation.

Thank you for adding her family on this stage. Have you looked under Ostrowecki to see if there is more information under that spelling?
