I believe Ch. Albek is Chana Albek born 13/02/1930 and she lived at AM Bach 33 Flat 12. I also believe I found her sisters and mother.

I agree that this is the most likely candidate to have signed the album for school #4b. In 1941 she would have been 11 years old, right in the appropriate age range for that school. Nice work!
Stage 2: The Ghetto
Father's Name:
Juda Leib Albek
Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants
Mother's Name:
Lieba Albek
Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants
Sibling's Names:
Golda Albek
Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants

User Comments:

I believe the mother of Chana Albek was Lieba Albek born 15/12/1905 and I believe her younger sisters were Golda Albek born 09/06/1932 and Rachel born 13/03/1937. I couldn't find anymore information on Chana and her family.

Perhaps Nowomiejska (Neustadtstrasse) 9 was their pre-war address if it wasn't a street in the ghetto? When they moved to the ghetto they took Am Bach 33 Flat 11/12 and Juda probably moved to Hohenstiener 9 after his family were already out of the ghetto. The on 20 May 1944 he moved to Holz Strasse 9 Flat 41. I couldn't find anymore information on Juda or Chana and her family. I searched all the databases and found nothing and I also did a search on Yad Vashem and JewishGen and couldn't find anything.

I agree with all of your thoughts about where they moved, and how, and when. Will be very interesting to trace other similar addresses and see how the Lodz ghetto inhabitants moved into and around the ghetto. Thank you for not jumping to conclusions on your research subjects, and thanks for helping to complete Chana's records. Hopefully we'll find out more information about her and her family someday.

There's also a Jakub Moses Albek at Am-Bach 33 #12, born in 1881, who might have been her uncle/grandfather/other male relative.

Let's also look at Juda Leib Albek, b. 10/5/1906 (father?), listed at Am Bach 33 #12 (only 1 number off, perhaps a typo). He has two records in the LGID, both with more information: the first record has a second address (Holzstrasse 9 #41) and a date (ANG 20/5/1944). A further record for Juda lists still more addresses: Nowomiejska (later Neustadtstrasse, a street not in the ghetto) 19, and Hohensteinstrasse 9. What do you think all this means? Can we piece together a timeline for Juda?

Great work as always!
