I found three possible girls for R. Adler born between 1927 and 1932.

The first girl was Rocha Adler born in 1931 and she lived at Leibl. 5 30 and Ludendorf 13 and she was deported on September 10, 1942.

The second name was Ruda Pesa Adler born on June 2, 1931 and she lived at Buschlinie 29 and Hohens. 28 17.

The last name was Ruth Alder born September 27, 1931 and she lived at Brunnen 7 31 and Prag IV. She had a note that I didn't understand. I know GEST stands for died but it said "Gest A.G. X831?" I'm not sure what that means.

I agree that all of these students are possible candidates to have signed the album as R. Adler in school #4b. As you rightly note, all of them were born in 1931, an appropriate age to attend that school in 1941.

I'm also stumped on what Ruth's ghetto note means. Are there any other users who might be able to help us out? The "Gest" refers to Gestorben, or died; "A.G." usually refers to deportation or moving in the ghetto. The X831 is what confuses me--is this a reference to August 31, or transport 8/31, or 83/1, or something else? What year is the record-keeper referencing? I encourage you to keep looking and see if you can solve this mystery.

If Ruth Adler were alive, she would have turned 80 this week. I'm very interested to see what else you discover about the fates of all of these potential signers of the album.

She's a little older than we expect for school #4--born 1926--but you can also look at Ruta/Ruth Adler, born June 10, 1926, listed with slightly different information under both names in the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants Database.

I have to mark this submission "possible" until we know more about who might have signed the album. Excellent work!

According to the Secondary resources Rocha Adler was deported on September 10, 1942 to Chelmno and killed in the gas vans. From September 5-12, 1942 15, 675 people, predominantly children under 10 and the elderly and the sick were killed. The father of Rocha Adler was I believe Szoel Adler born 17/11/1897 and he died 12/03/1944. I believe her sister was Sala born in 1927.

The family of Ruda Pesa was I believe Jakob (her father) born 22/01/1899 and died 14/08/1942, Ruchla born 08/05/1898 (her mother) and Laja Rachela born 25/12/1923 (her sister).

As for Ruth Adler I found the following information on www.yadvashem.org. There is a deportion list and it gives her name as  Ruth Adlerova. She was on Transport D from PRAHA,PRAHA HLAVNI MESTO,BOHEMIA,CZECHOSLOVAKIA to LODZ,GHETTO,POLAND on 31/10/1941 and she was prisoner number 792. Also appears is her mother Rosa (Rozalie) Alder nee Springles born on 30/03/1897 and she was prisoner number 787. Her siblings were (I believe) Josef Justin Adler born 19/12/1927 and Erwin Adler born 21/08/1925 and he was prisoner number 790 and Leopold Adler 25/07/1925 and he died 12/05/1942. I believe her grandfather was Simon Adler born 27/10/1877 and he died 09/06/1942.

Your use of the secondary sources and explanations in the comment field are exceptional. Thank you for your clarity.

Based on the information you gave me from Yad Vashem, I do not believe that Ruth Adler is the person who signed the album. If she was not in the Lodz Ghetto until October 31, 1941, she could not have been a student in the Lodz Ghetto on September 23, 1941 when the album was signed. What do you think? If you agree, you can go back and correct the entries about Ruth to reflect that she is likely not the person who signed the album; I also invite you to disagree!
