I believe that the Menachem that I found is the individual that signed the album because, while searching his name (fuzzy and exact) the only other individual that I personally found was another Menachem that was ten years younger. Menachem was born in 1929 (which fits the age range for a young man in School #2) and his occupation is also listed as Schueler.

Nice work! I agree that this is most likely the student who signed this name in the album. As you indicate, only this Menachem would have been the right age in 1941 to have attended school #2. Best of luck in the next stages.

The family members that I was able to find for Menachem were found by searching last name, matching addresses, and paying attention to birth dates. Hersz I believe is his father because of his birth year (1888). Rajzla is the oldest female listed at the address (1885), which led me to believe that she was his mother. His siblings are all generally older than him. Chaja (1912), Chaim (1914), Chana (1918), Lajb (1920), Hinda (1926), and Szlama. I was also able to find a deportation date listed of 10.9.42, and after looking at secondary resources, I was able to determine that his transport arrived at Chelmno during a mass round-up. I was able to find this information by searching jewishge.org (the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants database). On the USHHM database, the date of 10.9 was given but the year was absent. On jewishgen.org the date 10.9.42 was given. I also located his family by matching addresses through the spreadsheet style database at jewishgen (even though it is the same as USHHM), and then cross-referenced the material at the administrative database listed for the project.

I agree with your process and conclusions for finding his family. Thank you for clarifying the source you used for the place deported to and place of death; the secondary sources available on our site do indicate that September 10, 1942 would have fallen in the middle of the Gehsperre Aktion, in which children were deported to Chelmno.
