User Comments:
I searched the database under the fuzzy and exact settings for the last name of Jurkiewicz. I was able to find many children that would fall into the appropriate age range for attending School #23, but Tauba Minia Jurkiewicz is the only child that I could find with the appropriate first initial and age range (she was born in 1931). Her occupation is listed asArbeiterin, and she has a deportation date of 29.10.42 listed in her notes.

I agree that this is the most likely candidate to have signed this name in the album. See you in the next stages!

User Comments:
I searched jewishgen.org for the family name of Jurkiewicz and accessed the spreadsheet style Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants List to search for Tauba's family. I believe that Dawid (1899) is Tauba's father, Dworja (1901) is Tauba's mother, and Malka (1924) is Tauba's sister. This is based purely on shared address and dates of birth. Unfortunately, it appears that Dawid, Dworja, and Malka were all transported on transport 6, but no date was given. I am not sure what transport Tauba was on, but her notes list an October 29, 1942 deportation date, and according to secondary sources (unless there was another deportation in between), a transport arrived at Auschwitz on November 12, 1942. There is no other date that is relatively close to the deportation date given for Tauba. Based on all of the lists of Holocaust survivors, I was also unable to find any of the family members listed.

I agree it is possible that the October 29, 1942 transport went to Auschwitz, but we cannot know for certain. Is there any information in the next stages that might clarify where Tauba might have gone?
