Student Profile: M. Grabowiecki

I agree that you have found the correct student to have signed this name in the album. In 1941 he would have been 16 years old, the right age to attend gymnasium. Have you found any information about him or his family in the next stages?

I only found two other people living at the same address; Izak born 02/02/1898 and he also appears as IAK and living at Pfeffer 15 #104 and LEA GRABOWIECKA born 13/07/1898. I believe he is the father and she is the mother of Mieczyslaw. I didn't find anymore information on this stage for him or his parents.

I agree you have found Mieczyslaw's family members (and am pretty sure that Iak is a misspelling of Izak). I'm curious to see what you've found in stage 4.

I found a Miecyl Grabowiecki born 1925 in the Flossenburg Prisoner Lists (via JewishGen) and I'm certain this is MIECZYSLAW from the ealier stages given the similarities in names and birthdates. He arrived at camp on 10 Sep 1944 and had prisoner number 26543. There was also an Isack born in 1898 listed along with Mieczyslaw so I'm really certain this is our person. I couldn't find anymore information on him or his father. They don't appear in the survivors database and I did a Google search and didn't find anything.

Wow! Way to go! It's amazing you were able to find this information about Mieczyslaw. I was also unable to find any additional information about him in the next stage, but you can visit the secondary sources in the community center (page 14 in particular) to learn more about Lodz Jews at Flossenburg. I really hope we can find more information in the future about what happened to Mieczyslaw.
