User Comment:
This entry was chosen to establish the identity of Josek Aleksander due to the exact name match as well as the absence of any other entries in the database that even closely matched the name "Josek Aleksander." Furthermore, the birthdate listed for this entry is consistent with the age range of students at School #20A.
Note about second ghetto address: N ZARZEWSKA was not listed as a street in the drop down list. A Google search of this street name suggests that it may refer to the Lodz street "Nowo-Zarzewska." However, the Lodz Streets Database found at web address /v the street named "Nowo-Zarzewska" was changed to "Trierer Strasse" around 1939 and then to "Zarzewska" around 1945. So its hard to tell why the address listed for this entry as a ghetto address used N ZARZEWSKA as the street.

Excellent research! I agree that you have found a match, and you did a really good job explaining your research process. If you continue to Stage 2 and perform a fuzzy search for Josek in the databases provided there, I think you may find a hospital record of his death with an alternate spelling of his name. Please enter the data from the record in stage 2 and a narrative biography to complete Josek's entry. Again, great job and thanks!

The date of death, place of birth, place of death, and Scheunenstrasse 10 address were taken from an entry in the Hospital Records Database for Josef Aleksander whose date of death and year of birth match the "Josek Aleksander" entry used to establish identity in Stage 1.
The street name was taken from the abbreviation listed in the Hospital Records Database which was then compared to the list of street names at the web address http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/Holocaust/0093_Lodz-hospital.html#Streets.

Thanks for adding this additional information. According to the hospital records, Josef was a student who died of tuberculosis (Lungentuberkulose).
Thank you for helping to complete Josef's record.
