Place of Birth:

Lodz, Poland
Storchen Gasse 22/21

It is not positive if this was his place of birth, but it was an address of residence.

I think you have a match here. Also, please add EIZENBERG, Szlama as an additional variant name spelling from the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants database. It looks like Szlomo moved between Storchen Gasse 22/21 and Hohenstrasse 76/14 on January 1, 1942.

Thank you for adding the street addresses to the appropriate fields.

Bill found a cemetery with a person with the same name (Szlama AJZENBERG) in a Jewish Lodz Cemetery. They are located in Side: right Section:Sz in the men's quarter.

It does indeed appear that Szlomo was deported to Chelmno in September 1942. And Baszejwe was sent on the same transport (as well as living at same addresses as Szlomo). So, she was almost certainly a relative. However, Baszejwe was 42 years older than Szlomo. So, she may have been his grandmother rather than his mother (though I am not seeing another older woman in his home).

As for Bill finding someone with the name Szlama Ajzenberg in the Lodz Jewish Cemetery, this does not tell us much. Without a birth date, this is likely one of the other Szlama Ajzenberg's who were living in Lodz. If our student was sent to Chelmno, he would have been killed in the gas chambers there. There would be no grave for him in Lodz.
User Comment:
Alzenberg was sent to Chelmno where children and the elderly were killed in Gas Vans so it is likely that his date of deportation was also the date of his death.

Thank you for your research. There are only two known survivors of Chelmno, neither of whom is Szlomo Ajzenberg. It is overwhelmingly likely that Szlomo was killed in a gas van soon after his arrival at the camp. Therefore, I am confirming your entry. Thank you for your time and effort.
