User Comment:

A search of the Lodz Ghetto database reveals only one name similar to Meir Angel whose occupation is listed as Schueler and whose birthdate appears plausible (n.b.: two Mojzesz Engels are listed with the same address but two different birthdates, one December 10 and the other November 10, 1925).

Good research. You present a convincing argument for your conclusion that Meir Angel was the same person as Mojzesz Engel. I agree that the similarity of name and birth date in the mid 1920s make it likely that you have identified the student who signed the album. However, there is not enough converging evidence at this point to say for sure. So, I am going to mark your data as "possible" until we can find more information to confirm it. In addition, please go back and submit the birth date of December 10, 1925 in addition to the November birth date that you entered. I'd like to have both in the database since we do not know which one is correct. Thanks!

Good job! Note that Mojzesz lived at BUSCHLINIE 46, HANSEATEN 25 flat 25, and appears to have moved to INSEL 9 flat 30 on August 16, 1942. Note the date of registration at his new address means that he avoided deportation to Chelmno during the first half of 1942. However, we will need to confirm that he was not deported during the Gehsperre action of September 1942. If he survived to the end of 1942, that would significantly improve the chances of his survival (at least to the ghetto liquidation in 1944). Because we still are not sure whether Mojzesz and Meir were the same person, I'm marking your data as "possible." Great job.
