Gymnasium and high school for girls
Gymnasium and high school students were typically between 14 and 20 years old. A gymnasium student in September 1941 was likely born between 1921 and 1927.
The gymnasium and high school for girls was located on Otylii. The street name was changed to Ottilienstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Otylii and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
I changed the search to fuzzy and found this name. It is so close to what you had in the system, and the birthday matches the age of students in this particular school. I really think this could be a match.

There are two entries for this same name (two different dates of birth, but the dates and addresses are close enough that I think they both point to the same person). Why did you choose Fajman rather than Hakman or Najman to be the closer name to Hajman?
User Comment:
This spelling is so close to what was written in the records. The birthday fits in the years for Gymnasium and high school for girls.

This is one of two records for this student, both referencing almost identical addresses and slightly different birthdates. There are also a few other candidates with the last name Hakman or Najman--why did you decide Fajman was the closer name?
User Comment:
This student, who we have searched without a full first name, was born some time between 1921 and 1927. When I searched Hajman and M*, several results came up. The one that stuck out to me most was Malka Hajman. She was the only person born in the correct time frame, March 15, 1925, and had the correct last name to the one recorded, Hajman. Others said Hakman and etc. I made an educated guess and chose Malka as this student.

This is one of two records pointing to this person--there's another showing her with a slightly different address and a birthdate in August 1925, but I think they're close enough that they point to the same person.
What do you mean by "educated guess"? It is difficult to make assumptions or jump to conclusions about anything in this history, and I'm curious about your process of deciding that Fajman was closer than other names you found.
