Provenance:
The listings were initially complied from questionaires destributed to Jewish communities and local chapters of the Reichsbund jüdischer Frontsoldaten [=National Union of Jewish Veterans], which were published serially in "Der Schild", with errors subsequently corrected. The corrected listings were then compared against the records of the Zentralnachweiseamt für Kriegerverluste und Kriegergräber in Spandau [="Central Search Bureau for War Casualities and Graves", near Berlin].

Alphabetical lists by last name of Jewish soldiers who died while serving during World War I in the German Army, Navy or other military forces from 1914 to 1918. Included is the date and place of birth, death date, rank, military unit and the number of the official casuality report where first mentioned. One section is divided by town.
