[Applications for new living quarters] (ID: 28090)

Description:
This grouping contains applications for permission to move to new living quarters. Most of the applications include correspondence written by the applicant to Der Aelteste der Juden in Litzmannstadt requesting the allocation of a new apartment or permission to move. Some of the reasons given for wanting a new living arrangement include but are not limited to: married couples want their own place; the health of family members require a different living arrangement; they want to move into a house that was emptied due to evacuations or the previous tenants fleeing. Some of the applications include requests to move furniture from their old house to their new house. The applications include a statement of the request, an explanation as to why they wish to move, their name, and the address of the new location. Some applications include supporting documentation such as information regarding their employment and notes about the new location from the caretaker. Many times, the applications contain notes written by someone in the office of Der Aelteste der Juden in Litzmannstadt including notes about the applicant, the decision regarding whether they were allowed to move and the reasoning behind that decision.
