The reasons for hospitalization are not stated. Most of the 40 hospitalized men belonged to the 3rd and 4th Groups of the 2nd Labor Battalion. Fifteen were hospitalized in the 2nd Division hospital, the rest in other military or civilian medical facilities. Of the 40 men, 38 were from street addresses in Sofia, one from Pirot, and one from Giomiordzhina (Komotini). YOB also stated for all 40. The majority of those listed had been hospitalized in either September or October, 1942. Compilation of this list coincided with the KEV registration of all Jews in Bulgaria.
