Paragraph 14 of 5th Labor Battalion order no. 47 for 1941 is a list of unit members who had been hospitalized for treatment, for unstated reasons. These included nine men each from the 1st and 2nd Construction Companies, four from the 4th Construction Company, 14 from the Road and Bridge Company, 20 from the Technical Company, and ten from the Support Company. The 1st was apparently a mixed Bulgarian and Turkish (and/or Pomak) unit, based on the men's names. The 2nd and 3rd were Jewish. The Road and Bridge Company men were ethnic Turks (and/or Pomaks), while the Technical and Support Companies were made up of ethnic Bulgarians.
