This grouping includes repatriation files created by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Repatriation Department of the Czechoslovak Government in Exile in England. These files contain war-time documentation regarding social welfare assistance received as well as documents regarding post-war reparation. These documents primarily deal with individuals living in England. This includes correspondence, reports, receipts, luggage manifests, telegrams, and other types of documents. Topics covered by these files include, but are not limited to: information regarding an individual’s life before the war, how they came to leave Czechoslovakia and their experiences during the war; information regarding their current situation in England; individuals searching for family members or attempting to get their family members out of the war zone; assistance provided for education and employment; monetary assistance provided to families in England while they are waiting for repatriation; inquires regarding how to register for repatriation and who was eligible; requests for repatriation; requests for deferment of repatriation (temporarily or permanently) and reasons for requesting deferment; procedures for repatriation including accommodations in London (or other departure cities) and what to do with luggage; plans upon repatriation to Czechoslovakia.
