    Description
    Various LS views of camp. CU of a searchlight, the camera pans down to the square of the camp, smaller searchlights are in the FG. Camera pans down to barracks and across the plaza. People are scattered and walking around. MS of a clock/tower (from side), closer shot. CU of a prisoner's back with marked coat (a square of striped fabric over a red X). There is a crowd behind him. Another survivor with similar marking on back (no X). CU of a survivor with a hat, explaining something, gesturing in a wheel-like motion with hands, a patch with an X is on her back, dancing around in a circle. CU of a man showing his rotten/missing teeth. CU of a tattoo. CU of a young man with glasses. CU of an older man who takes off his cap. CU of a boy looking around, he smiles and laughs at the end. US soldiers sit near the edge of a road. Smoke comes from a bomb. Jeeps drive and soldiers run through the deserted town. (soft focus) Tanks, US infantry walk through streets.     Film Provenance
    The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum purchased this from the National Archives and Records Administration in March 1991. The footage was obtained as research for the Museum's Permanent Exhibition.
    Note
    Incorrectly labeled on USHMM tape (the slate reads 9116). This is 18 SFP 9115.
    Footage is also available on Sub-master PD #20: Liberation by Americans Reel 1.

    USHMM replaced the online streaming video with a new, higher resolution digital file produced for the VHH project. The 16mm film source from NARA was scanned by the Austrian Filmmuseum in 2021.
