    Description
    "Nazi Atrocities" segment of US Army "Special Film Report" (part of reels 3 and 4).
    Evidence of atrocities in several captured German concentration camps, including Holzen, Paderborn, Hadamar, and Ohrdruf. LS, camp entrance in Holzen, Germany. MS, CUs, Russian, Polish, Czech and Jewish prisoners behind barbed-wire fence, smiling. Undernourished prisoners. MS, EXT men standing along barracks. VCUs, individual faces. MS, picking lice from body of another. Pan of survivors, facing camera. Former Russian prisoners raid food stores at Paderborn camp. Crowd pushing, eating from tins. US Army jeep enters liberated camp at Hadamar, US flag hangs from entrance. INT, War Crimes Investigation Teams interrogate Adolf Merckel, Dr. Wahlmann, and nurse Karl Willig re. medical experimentation and morphine. LS, from above, gravesite at Hadamar. Exhumation, doctor performing autopsies. [Reel 4:] Corpses at Ohrdruf. CUs, naked, burned skin, patchy, lime. Soldier talks to group of survivors. German civilians getting out of truck, guided through camp. Pile of corpses. Forced to go inside barracks with more bodies. Two Nazis (convicted as slave laborers) escorted by MPs, forced inside barracks. CUs as they exit. MS, from rear, crowd of soldiers look at crematory. Pan, ashes, body parts. Group of congressmen and press editors view the camp, listening to US soldier.

    Note
    The four reels of NARA #111 SFR 51 [from 05:12:08 to 05:46:23] contain a US Army "Special Film Report" that is a compilation of newsreels. Material covered includes: FDR Laid to Rest; Phillippine Operations; Advance on Okinawa; Accident Aboard USS Hancock; Activities in Burma; Nazi Atrocities; and President Truman addresses Congress.
