    Description
    VAR pedestrians walking toward camera on crowded sidewalk in the ghetto, incl many young boys in rags. Well-dressed women sit in rickshaw, then very poor thin woman walks alongside. All look uncomfortably into camera. Vertical pan of poorer woman swathed in rags. Bearded old man carrying a bundle passes camera. HA of tram through busy ghetto street. (Tram car is identified with large Star of David.) MLS woman lying on sidewalk, ignored by many pedestrians passing by. Shot through window grate bars, view of street vendor and his cart. HA horse-drawn trolley, tram, and other traffic on street; very crowded w/pedestrians.

    Film Provenance
    The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum purchased this film from the National Center for Jewish Film (NCJF) in June 1992. The film was transferred at John E. Allen, Inc. in New Jersey. NCJF acquired the Warsaw Ghetto reels from the DDR archive (now subsumed by the Bundesarchiv in Berlin, Germany).

    EVIDENCE OF NITRATE DETERIORATION DAMAGE IN SOME SHOTS

    Burn-in time codes appears on Betacam SP version (Protection copy) as well as the VHS. NCJF can make their one-inch version available on a loan basis.
