    Signing of Versailles Treaty

    Overview

    Description
Views of the Palace of Versailles and the gardens. The camera pans left to right across the exterior of the palace, showing the crowds lined up outside. More exterior shots - the fountain, crowds cheering, waving flags, soldiers marching in formation. One car after another drives through a large archway - the delegates arriving. Delegates and their wives embark from cars and are greeted and escorted inside: French Foreign Minister Stephen Pichon, French Premier Georges Clemenceau, American Secretary of State Robert Lansing, General Tasker Howard Bliss, Herbert Hoover, General Michel Maunoury, Generals Allen and Persihng, Colonel Edward House, Arthur Balfour, Polish Prime Minister Ignacy Paderewski, David Lloyd George, Baron Sidney Sonnino, Ambassador Hugh Wallace, and President and Mrs. Wilson. Reporters (?) take notes. After Wilson and his wife are led inside, the scene switches to the interior of the Hall of Mirrors. The perspective is from the back of the room, over the head of the crowd. Scene switches again to the exterior, crowds rushing up to the Palace. Close up shot as Lloyd George, Orlando, Clemenceau, and Wilson come outside briefly, pose, and go back inside. Shot of Wilson as he exits. More shots of the crowds milling about outside.
