I join this list in the hope that all people learn of the consequences of intolerance and of being too tolerant of those who are intolerant. All must learn.

I light this candle to remember and never forget the horrific events of the Holocaust. I want to say thankyou to those who continue to share their stories with our generations in hope that it will never happen again. Love to my favorite extended family on this day

Naturally, I survived the Holocaust when I was a teenager. The childless aunt and uncle who reared me first in Germany perished in the Holocaust whichI would have been also had I not been whisked away to Belgium to rejoign my biological parents in l938. The lady who led me to the border with Belgium was a Christian lady. Today as ever I devote myself to Holocaust education.I am the moderator of the international Yahoo! group Remember-The-Holocaust . I also was appointed by the governor of Maryland to the Maryland State task force to implement Holocaust, Genocide, Human Rights, and Tolerance Education in the University System of Maryland. I will do my best. Let us honor the victims of the Holocaust. We can remember them by promoting tolerance and human rights.

I light this candle in memory of my family who perished in Lithuania at the hands of the Einsattzgruppen and in honour of all teachers who educate and enlighten, and in honour of survivors who tell their stories to us with simplicity and honesty and pain.

We must not only learn from the past, we must understand and apply our understanding.

I would like to light this candle on behalf of myself and my Holocaust Literature students who now understand that words are not, nor will they ever be, enough. May this day remind us all to never put down the torch for rememberance.

I light a candle to call to mind hundreds of relatives I never met: my aunts, uncles and cousins who remained in Poland too late after my father left.
