A Holocaust Childhood”
Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death: A Holocaust Childhood
Gerda Bikales describes her childhood in Nazi-occupied Europe from her birth in Breslau, Germany, and her time in Berlin, to her parents’ attempt to escape to the Netherlands and eventually France. She also recounts her time after the war as an unwanted child in Switzerland. Bikales would eventually immigrate to America as a teenager.
