William L. Nash (Major General, US Army, Retired) is a Visiting Lecturer in the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He was also a Fellow at the Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics in the spring semester of 1998. In 1996, Major General Nash was commander of Task Force Eagle, a multinational division organized to implement the Dayton Peace Accords in northeastern Bosnia-Herzegovina. He retired on January 1, 1998, after serving 34 years in the United States Army. General Nash served as brigade commander in Desert Storm, as program manager and advisor to the Saudi Arabian National Guard, and he was a platoon leader in Vietnam. General Nash has also served at headquarters, Department of Army; the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Headquarters, US Army Europe. His military decorations include the Army’s Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star, and the Purple Heart. He is currently teaching a course on “The Military, the Media and National Security.”
