Rev. Dr. Gloria E. White-Hammond is Chairwoman of the Save Darfur Coalition Board of Directors. She has served as Co-pastor of the Bethel AME Church in Boston since 1997 and was formerly a pediatrician at the South End Community Health Center. She founded and serves as a consultant to Do the Write Thing, a church-based creative writing and mentoring ministry, and serves as Co-convener of the Red Tent Group with Rabbi Elaine Zecher of Temple Israel, which brings together Christian and Jewish women for small-group study of the Torah and Bible. Having worked as a medical missionary in several African countries, she has undertaken seven trips into war-torn southern Sudan since 2001. In 2002 she cofounded My Sister’s Keeper, a humanitarian women’s group that partners with the women of Sudan in the reconciliation and reconstruction of their communities.
