In honor of all who came before us and all our parents endured, we are so grateful this Museum will keep the legacy alive. I hope and pray that future generations will never forget their stories and the horrors that hatred can create. [Inscription on Scroll of Remembrance, USHMM, November 2, 2003] |

I sat on rain-soaked chairs in April 1993 to witness the opening of this amazing place. I witness this day of amazing accomplishment. I hope I may live long enough to witness the progress, the interest of future generations in what happened in those days of the twentieth century when darkness fell upon the earth and eventually the Museum became a shining light for all humanity -- Now and for the FUTURE. I am very grateful, as a member of the Second Generation, to be here in our Nation's Capital walking through the Holocaust Museum. I am hopeful that the suffering of my family, our people, was not in vain. May the experiences of the past serve as a lesson for all generations. We are here as 3 generations. I thank god my parents have survived so that we have this wonderful family. Their legacy of our three generations will continue to grow and "Remember." We are here to ensure that this will "Never" happen to anyone again. I am proud to be a part of this incredible event that honors my parents and in remembrance of those I never had the privilege to know. Thank you everyone for this memorial you have created. I am 46 years old, so I was not a survivor. I do believe that reading their stories and saying their names is like praying. It is one thing I can do, read, pray, remember, and tell others. I dedicate my posting to a coworker Barbara, who survived the evil of that time, and lived. She really lived a good life after the war ended, and has left a wonderful legacy of love and triumph for me to tell my children. The victims will not be forgotten as long as people remember and tell the stories. Peace to all. |
