It was heartbreaking and joyful that the Holocaust Museum honored its survivors. I have never seen so many people together in one place. The flow of people from the Museum to the tent, to the Music tent and then back again to the Plaza, where the Dignitaries welcomed us. The daughters and sons, the grandchildren, the great grandchildren won't forget this event. [November 12, 2003] |

First of all let me say that this past weekend was, for me, an incredible experience. Not only did I not feel all alone but it allowed me, for the first time, to share my experiences with other survivors who could fully understand what we all went through. Let me congratulate you on an incredible job done so well and so very smoothly that one can only shake their head in total amazement. [November 2003] |

At our table I sat next to a man whom I had never met before and yet it turned out he grew up in a house located less than a mile away from mine in Vienna, Austria. Because he is 15 years my junior it is unlikely that we would have had any social contact then, but we did belong to the same Synagogue. We had most pleasant reminiscences. [November 13, 2003] |

I have just walked into my house after spending two wonderful days in connection with the Anniversary Tribute of Holocaust Survivors. On Saturday I spent most of the day with a person who came here from Chicago, but with whom I spent some of my childhood years in a small staettle in Germany. My husband and I enjoyed all the events we attended and I again want to thank you and your staff for making this possible. [November 3, 2003] |

The things that impressed me were: The many survivors that I came to meet and hear experiences from. All of them were awesome. The accomplishments, strides and strength gave me chills to listen to. One of my aunts who was in Auschwitz tells her stories in extreme detail. Listening to her made us all cry. The Museum the dinner, the speakers, the survivors, the 2G's and 3G's all made this unforgettable. [November 2003] |

I will remember all the faces and handshakes of so many people but I will never forget one survivor in particular who embraced me crying and said to me, "you just extended my will for life, there is a purpose for me living and remembering." [November 4, 2003] |

I have survived and am here with my children and grandchildren. We will never forget and will pass on this memory so that this horror will never be forgotten. [Inscription on Scroll of Remembrance, USHMM, November 2, 2003] |

The time we spend on Earth, in this world, is so precious. We are here because those before us sacrificed their entire world, and for what? It's just that -- as a third generation, I know the torch has been passed on, so we will NEVER forget. So teach your children, your grandchildren, otherwise the sacrifices made as to ensure our existence might go down the same path so many of our brethren were forced to take -- I stand here before you as a testament to their sacrifice, shouting to the entire world that I WILL NEVER FORGET!! I'm here second generation with my parents, survivors -- my father of the youngest of survivors -- to show our respect for those of our family members and all the others who were not so fortunate to be here today. We are truly blessed. [Inscription on Scroll of Remembrance, USHMM, November 2, 2003] |
