Derya Golpinar is responsible for the ongoing management and care of The Tenement Museum’s object collection and archives. She also manages the preservation program for the museum’s landmark building at 97 Orchard Street. Before joining The Tenement Museum in 2004, Ms. Golpinar held an internship at New York Unearthed, the Urban Archaeology Center of the South Street Seaport Museum and worked as a Curatorial Assistant at the American Museum of Natural History. Ms. Golpinar holds an MA in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico and has received conservation and preservation training through the Museum Practices Program at the Fashion Institute of Technology and through the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies. Ms Golpinar is the Chair of Standards and Best Practices of the Integrated Pest Management Working Group and has led collections care workshops for the New England Museum Association as well as the Small Museum Association.
