USING THE LIBRARY

Hours: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily
Location: Fifth Floor

The Library is open to the public seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Closed Federal holidays as well as Yom Kippur.) To reach the Fifth Floor, use the elevator located near the Museum Shop on the First Floor. This elevator only stops on the First and Fifth Floors. No appointment is necessary to use the Library collection.

The Library and Archives, including the photo, oral history, and film and video archives, are independently managed departments within the Museum. Therefore, these departments must be contacted separately for assistance with any research needs. Please note as well that the operating hours for these departments differ. The Archives are open Monday through Friday only. Arrangements can be made in advance for archival materials to be set aside for weekend use. Contact the Archives directly at archives@ushmm.org or (202) 488-6113.

All items are security encoded. To prevent theft, Security Staff may request to examine visitors' personal articles when they exit the Library.
