GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:The Center for Oral History was established in 1968 at the University of Connecticut. It originates, sponsors and supports projects which emphasize Connecticut's history and development, as well as projects dealing with a wide variety of other subjects, including the Unviersity itself.

OVERVIEW OF ORAL HISTORY COLLECTION:The Center for Oral History has two pertinent collections: 1) Holocaust Survivors in the Connecticut Region (1980-81) and 2) Witnesses to Nuremberg (1995-96). A third collection "Voices of WWII" may include relevant interviews.

The Holocaust Survivors in the Connecticut Region project is a study of Holocaust survivors, undertaken in cooperation with the Center for Judaic Studies and Contemporary Jewish Life at the University of Connecticut.

The Witnesses to Nuremberg project involved interviews with individuals who participated in the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials, 1945-1949. Those interviewed include attorneys, interrogators, interpreters, prison guards, journalists and the architect who renovated the courtroom.

A third collection "Voices of WWII" may include relevant interviews. It is a student generated project concerning World War II and included interviews with veterans, women war workers, wartime children, Holocaust survivors and others who experienced WWII. It can be found at: www.sp.uconn.edu/~wwwcoh.
