| GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: | The Jewish Museum Finchley aims to increase knowledge and understanding of Jewish history, culture, and religious life, as part of Britain's diverse heritage.
The Jewish Museum Finchley was founded in 1983 as the Museum of the Jewish East End, and became the social history branch of the Jewish Museum in 1995. The Museum began collecting Holocaust-related material, preserving Holocaust-related exhibitions and developing Holocaust Education programmes in 1987. It includes a permanent Holocaust Education gallery "Leon Greenman Auschwitz Survivor 98288". |

| OVERVIEW OF ORAL HISTORY COLLECTION: | The Museum has an oral history archive, including interviews with refugees from Nazism and Holocaust survivors who have settled in Britain.
All interviews are on audio tape and usually follow a life history format. Many are transcribed. More recently, an audio-visual film, "Continental Britons" was produced for the exhibition of the same name. It is an edited film of interviews with Jewish refugees in Britain. |
