| GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: | AMCHA - the National Israeli Center for Psychosocial Support of Survivors of the Holocaust and the Second Generation - is a non-profit organization dedicated to help survivors and their children. The goal is to provide a framework for mutual aid, memory processing and grief resolution, as well as a place were Holocaust survivors and their families can feel understood and through a variety of services which are provided by over 150 professionally trained staff from the mental health fields as well as by over 500 volunteers. AMCHA currently provides services to more than six thousand clients in nine cities as well as in many affiliated locations in Israel. |

| OVERVIEW OF ORAL HISTORY COLLECTION: | Survivors who wish to be interviewed contact AMCHA. Interviews include experiences before, during and after the Shoah. Several staff members in each branch that conducts interviews are trained and prepared to conduct interviews. Appointment for videotaping is arranged at the most convenient branch. No time limit is set for the interview. The total number of interviews, including those video-taped, are several hundred. The overwhelming majority of interviews are made in Hebrew. There is no organized catalogue or a set of transcripts. |
